Early in his career, founder & president, Jim Buehrig, had worked for another builder in the St. Louis area.  He helped the company grow into one of the nation's largest home builders, while working his way up to the executive level.  In 1991 Jim took his experience, and set out to provide a more personal approach to the housing market in the St. Louis area.  Along with a group of hand-picked professionals, he founded Gateway Homebuilders.  From the beginning, they focused on the customer, and the quality of their product.  At the same time, they were able to utilize efficiencies of the "big builder" approach, in order to provide maximum value in every design.
